An arts consultant, his firm oversees cultural planning for communities, such as plans for performing arts centers. He manages the Serenbe Institute which organizes the cultural activities for this thriving arts community.

Both artists, Tom and Gail Swanston live in the heart of the portion of Serenbe devoted to the arts.
As long-time residents of South Fulton County, the couple was involved in early meetings about land use in Chattahoochee Hill Country which brought awareness of Serenbe. The sense of community and commitment to the arts provided a unique combination that led them to their current home. They designed their home and studio/gallery in partnership with an architect who was mindful of integrating the built environment into the natural landscape.

With two young children and an active lifestyle, Dallas and Preston Nevins’ home is often a gathering place for other Serenbe families. Similar to many other residents, the Nevins fell in love with the community by experience, after frequent visits to Dallas’ parents, Gwen and Pepper Bullock, deciding to make it their home as well.

Pepper and Gwen Bullock moved to Serenbe four years ago and since then have become hosts with the most, hosting friends and family almost every weekend and overseeing large gatherings of family and work colleagues two or three times a year. Aesthetics of the bathrooms were important in designing their home, and with a steady stream of visitors, performance quickly became a factor as well with toilets that didn’t always perform as expected.

After living in bustling Atlanta for 35 years, Donna Nichols sought a change that would allow for a more relaxed lifestyle but still within close reach of city life. She adapted quickly to her Serenbe home after relocating in 2006, enjoying a lush garden and the fresh air circulation allowed by porches, French doors and a classically Southern dogtrot design that bisects the main living area from the third bedroom.
